Sheri

Social Worker

Sheri is a dedicated child therapist with a strong background in early childhood development and a deep commitment to supporting children’s social-emotional growth. With experience in both early childhood education and therapy, she understands that children learn best through their interactions with the world around them. Rooted in a constructivist approach, she believes in fostering meaningful experiences that help children develop emotional regulation, resilience, and self-awareness.

Her work specializes in social-emotional learning and helping children navigate big behaviors with empathy and evidence-based strategies. She utilizes a variety of therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT). Her beliefs are deeply influenced by the work of Carl Rogers, emphasizing the importance of a warm, accepting, and child-centered environment where children feel safe to express themselves and grow.

In addition to her therapeutic practice, She brings years of experience guiding educators and childcare providers to create enriching, developmentally appropriate environments for young children. As a Professional Development Specialist (PDS) and a NYS Training and Technical Assistance Professional (T-TAP), she has worked closely with childcare centers, family daycare homes, and preschools to support curriculum development, effective classroom management, and high-quality early childhood experiences.

She believes that both adults and children thrive when intentional, responsive interactions and well-structured routines are in place. Subtle yet critical changes—such as modeling positive communication, fostering secure attachments through consistent caregiving, and creating predictable transitions—help shape a supportive learning environment. When adults engage in thoughtful interactions and establish routines that promote connection and security, children develop the confidence and emotional regulation skills needed to navigate their world successfully.

She graduated from Keuka College with a Master’s in Social Work. She is passionate about blending my expertise in early childhood education and therapy to create spaces where children feel seen, heard, and supported in their development.
